Project IdeasThis is a featured page

The following “end products” are listed here as a suggested alternative to the standard written research paper. The ideas shared here do not eliminate the need for your typical research process, including the citation of sources. Please consult your teacher for requirements and a rubric. Perhaps the requirements and rubric can be agreed upon in a consultation with your teacher before committing to a project type. Some of these lend themselves to being done alone as a stand alone project, while others may require you select two or three to put together for a project. Be sure to get your plans approved first.

The table includes helpful links, examples, or links to develop the project. Remember all content used should be copyright friendly or fully cited.

Creating a fake Facebook profile for a character in a book or of a famous person in history could be a good way to get students interested in writing about that person. Doing that on Facebook.com is a violation of Facebook's terms of service, but there are some ways to create fake Facebook profiles without using Facebook.com. Here are three ways to create fake Facebook profiles.

    Death By Powerpoint

Use of copyrighted content must be “transformative” (helps one learn the content better; enhance the learning process) to meet the requirements for “fair use.” Copyrighted images, music, other works should not be used just for “decorative” purposes to enhance a work. This is not considered transformative, and therefore does not meet the requirements to call the use of the material okay under the guise of “fair use.”

Many of you will want to add music that is in all likelihood copyrighted. Remember it should meet the definition of transformative, and you may only use 10% or less (maximum 30 seconds.) There are copyright friendly music selections available. Search for them (creative commons licensed.)
